Higher Education Certificate Program
Academic Year 2017-18
The Center for Teaching & Learning invites faculty teaching at least one face-to-face course per academic year to submit an application to be a part of the Higher Education Certificate Program (HECP) for Chaminade faculty. This course addresses creating an effective syllabus, teaching methods, classroom management, instructional design, selected learning theories, forms of assessment, appropriate, relevant and meaningful use of instructional technology, and use of SoTL to improve teaching. The course will be delivered mainly via Canvas from January 2018- April 2018. The course will end with a face-to-face symposium on May 4, 2018 from 4:00-6:00 p.m.
Faculty selected to participate in the HECP will receive a stipend of $1,000, pending approval of required course outcomes. We are currently able to fund 6 faculty members, ideally one from each division.
If selected, the faculty member must commit to:
- Consistent participation the Canvas course created for this certificate;
- Attendance at end of course symposium on May 4, 2018 from 4:00-6:00 p.m.;
- Contributing to a workshop with other faculty;
- Producing an end of course portfolio.
Applications are due by December 1, 2017.
